Shannon Elizabeth Roberts was born and raised in the sunny beach side town of Newport Beach, California. Her parents--Shane and Brittany Roberts were the two most opposite people you would meet on the outside, but matched perfectly when they finally got to one another. Brittany was the perfect Newport Princess, while Shane came from New York City with a host of problems. Though maybe people tried to pull them apart, it was impossible, and the two have been inseparable ever since.
On top of being born into a wealthy family, on both sides, Shannon was born to a mother who was not supposed to be able to have children. Not only was she the first child of a couple who loved one another deeply, but she was the only child they would ever be able to have. Because of that, Shannon was spoiled. Severely spoiled, not only by her parents, but by all their closest friends, who were all like extended family to this little girl who was able to have and do anything she ever wanted.
Soccer was her first love, even from in the womb. When Brittany felt Shannon kicking for the first time, she (being a soccer lover herself) called Shannon her little soccer player. And although nothing would over shadow Soccer in Shannon's life, she had many other talents and activities fostered by her parents and extended family made up of their best friends.
Her "uncle" Devin gave her a surf board before she could even walk and had her in the water before age one. Her father stuck a pencil in her hand and told her the bedroom was hers, and if she wanted to draw on the walls, that was her prerogative. They could always paint over it if she changed her mind. Be that as it may, as much as her mother's friend Jessi tried, Shannon never got into dancing. She thought it was "too girly".
But, just because Shannon was spoiled, didn't mean that she didn't have things her parents made her do. Her father wasn't strict per se, but he is extremely protective of his little girl. Not only was Shannon daddy's girl, but she was also their only child, he couldn't take any risks with her. Shane may have bought his newly sixteen year old daughter a brand new car, but before he would give her the keys he made her learn how to change the tires. And the oil. And all the necessary fluids. Not only did he make her learn to change them, but he timed her. She, of course, passed with flying colors.
Being daddy's girl came with a long list of awesome perks, but it also came with some down sides. Ever year for Christmas, she found a new pepper spray keychain in her stocking. And when boys would come to the door to pick Shannon up for dates, or dances, Shane answered the door and promptly told the boys that he had been in a mental hospital once upon a time and as such would not go to jail if he killed someone. Shannon laughed it off, the boys often did not.
As we mentioned previously, Soccer was Shannon's first love. At the age of five she was signed up for AYSO kid's soccer. By the time she got to high school she was one of the most sought after forwards in her division.
This is the home her father designed when she was a kid.
